Fun with Guns

My friend Digi and I went to a gun show for a few hours yesterday. I've never been to one before, so it was a little odd seeing people just walking around with guns slung over their shoulders (even in the parking lot). It was interesting, but it also kinda scared me the types of weapons people are actually walking around with out there. For $400 I could have owned my very own AK-47 (popular among third-world insurgents). I commented more than once that we could start a small revolution with the armaments in this building alone.

There were hundreds of the typical hunters weapons like shotguns and rifles - even some anceint muzzle-loaders and WWII rifles. It was the military-type assault rifles that bothered me the most. This one vendor was very proud of his short fast attack rifle complete with tactical flashlight. He explained how easy it was to take apart (apparently to store at half its already small size) and said his had never jammed even after firing a thousand rounds without cleaning. Now, this guy wasn't exactly the swat team type. I'd pick him more as the squirrel-hunting type. I wondered how many squirrels he had killed with those thousand rounds, many apparently shot at night judging by his facination with the tactical light.

I'm not necesarily for stronger gun control laws - realizing the most dangerous people would ignore them anyway - but is it really necesary to carry tactical assault rifles? Even grandma would be better off defending herself with a good old-fashioned shot gun.

Too little time

I've been thinking for a while now that there are just too few hours in a day. I mean, what was God thinking? He should know that if I'm supposed to eat, sleep, work, serve him, enjoy relationships and recreation, and keep up with daily life tasks, I'll need at least 27 hours per day. Some of my friends are pushing for 36 hour days, but I'd be happy with 30. I cancelled my workout tonight for the... well more times than I care to count because I was just too busy. I'm tired of being busy. I'm tired of being tired. Something has to change. I leave for vacation on Tuesday and I'm going to take that time to relax and do some things I haven't had time to do. Then, when I get back, things are going to change. I can't keep living this way. I'm not happy with myself, and I really don't think God's happy with my crazy schedule either. Well, there, I've said it. Something is going to change. So, ask me in two weeks if anything has changed. I might be too busy to answer you right away, but I'll put you on my list. ;-)

Blogging from my Dashboard

This could be the coolest thing ever! Okay, maybe not, but it may mean that I post more often. I just download the Blogger Dashboard Widget for Mac OSX. You can download yours here. I'm posting this with the widget right now! Blog on.
